Brandon Flowers Says Forthcoming Single Is “Magical”

Credit: Williams + HirakawaThe Killers frontman Brandon Flowers may have waited five years to release The Desired Effect, his second solo album, but he says that the new record's first single, "Can't Deny My Love," hardly took him any time at all.

"[It] was one of those magical songs that just writes themselves," Flowers tells NME of "Can't Deny My Love." "The lyrics were done really fast. There was something instantly authentic about it that was cool. It wasn't contrived at all."

Flowers is working with producer Ariel Rechtshaid on The Desired Effect. Rechtshaid has previously produced albums for Vampire Weekend and HAIM.

"Ariel was able to bring a little weight and muscle to my original demo," Flowers says of Rechsthaid's work on "Can't Deny My Love."

"Can't Deny My Love" will be released on March 23. A day later, Flowers will play his first show of 2015 in support of The Desired Effect in New York City.

The Desired Effect will be released in full on May 19.
