Image Courtesy of Linda BrownleeBritish publication Debrett's has unveiled its annual list of the 500 most influential people in the U.K. Among pop stars like One Direction, Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith on the music section of the list is Blur and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn, saluted as one of the people "who are making the most impact on this fast-changing industry."

"Musician, multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and record producer Damon Albarn is arguably the cleverest musician of his generation, on every level imaginable," writes Debrett.

Albarn released his debut solo album, Everyday Robots, last year. The album was short-listed for Britain's prestigious Mercury Prize, which gave Albarn a total of three Mercury Prize nominations, including nods for Blur's Parklife and 13. He also received a Mercury Prize nomination for Gorillaz's debut album, but the band requested the album be withdrawn from consideration.

Albarn will also be up for Best British Male Solo Artist at the 2015 Brit Awards, which will be held February 25 in London.
