Flaming Lips Join Miley Cyrus on “SNL,” and on the Road for Club Tour

Dana Edelson/NBCYou might have skipped last weekend’s Saturday Night Live after hearing Miley Cyrus was both host and musical guest.  If you did, you missed seeing The Flaming Lips backing her up while dressed in animal costumes.

Cyrus performed two songs on SNL -- “Karen Don’t Be Sad” and “The Twinkle Song” -- both from her recent, free online album, Miley Cyrus & Her Dead PetzWayne Coyne and company took the stage with her for the former song, furry from head to toe.  The band has clearly found a new pal in Cyrus, with whom they also collaborated on the album.

Shortly after her Saturday Night Live appearance, Cyrus announced a limited club tour in support of Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, on which the Flaming Lips will join her. The tour launches November 19 in Chicago and visist Detroit, Washington, D.C., New York, Philadelphia and Boston through December 6.
