Metallica has released a video documenting their first-ever session with BBC Radio. It includes performances of "Enter Sandman," "Harvester of Sorrow" and three songs from the band's new album Hardwired...to Self-Destruct: "Moth into Flame," "Atlas, Rise!" and "Hardwired."
In between performances, frontman James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich discuss the making of Hardwired...to Self-Destruct. In talking about the angry nature of the lyrics on the album, Hetfield says he's had those feelings since he was a kid.
"I want to be happier in life -- everyone kinda does, I think. At some point I had to turn around and just embrace that anger that has been with me since youth," he says. "What I get to do is use it as a tool. I get to write about it, I get to use music as a voice, where I can get whatever is bothering or spinning in my head, I can get it out."
Metallica will embark on a worldwide tour this year in support of Hardwired...to Self-Destruct, which will include a yet-to-be-announced U.S. run.
