Another day, another music awards show. The latest is the BBC Music Awards, which will air on the cable channel Palladia December 11 at 3 p.m. ET.
So far, only two categories have been announced -- British Artist of the Year and International Artist of the Year. Young guns Royal Blood and British rock mainstays Elbow are up for the hometown award, along with David Bowie, singer Sam Smith, soul group Jungle and singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. Lorde has been nominated in the International category, joining Prince, country icon Dolly Parton, pop hit-maker Pharrell Williams, jazz vocalist Gregory Porter and pop star Taylor Swift.
As with all other awards shows, the BBC Music Awards will feature a bevy of performances as well. Coldplay will be among the lineup of performers, which also includes Sheeran and pop group One Direction.
Additional nominees will be announced this week. The show will take place in London in front of an audience of more than 10,000 people, and the winners are determined by a BBC Music panel and leading music journalists.
