Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance” Hits Number One

Image Courtesy of RCA RecordsWalk the Moon has scored their first number one hit with "Shut Up and Dance." The single has grabbed the top spot on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart, dethroning Cage the Elephant's "Cigarette Daydreams."

Walk the Moon's chart topper is not only a first for them, it also marks a milestone for their label, RCA Records. The last three number one Alternative songs -- "Shut Up and Dance," "Cigarette Daydreams" and Foo Fighters' "Something from Nothing" -- all came from artists signed to RCA.

As Billboard notes, this is the first time one label has scored three straight number one Alternative Songs since Reprise Records did it in 1992. That streak included The B-52's' "Good Stuff," Faith No More's "Midlife Crisis" and Morrissey's "Tomorrow."

"Shut Up and Dance" appears on Walk the Moon's latest album, Talking Is Hard. The band will be touring in support of Talking Is Hard this spring starting March 10 in San Diego, California and running through May 9 in Las Vegas.
